Parsimony in science & technology

Parsimony in science & scholastics – aka Occam’s Razor – advises us not make a problem any tougher than it has to be.  It’s an essential principle in technology, for troubleshooting & maintainance of our Stuff.  It says the most likely answer or solution, is the most obvious or direct one.  If you flip the switch and the light doesn’t come on, most likely the bulb is burned out, not that you should rewire the house.
